Orthokeratology is the use of gas permeable contact lenses to correct errors like astigmatism, and myopia by temporarily reshaping the cornea. This process is designed to corrected the shortsighted eye using corrective contact lenses. It works while wearing the contact lenses overnight. Since wearing these can shape the cornea, the vision is restored. The Ortho-K lenses help the oxygen flow into the eyes and help in the growth of the cells. You can see clearly after you remove the lenses the next day, when you wake up. You can see clearly without glasses or lenses for a day or two, which is why it is best to wear the Ortho-K lenses every night. It is not a surgical procedure and has a high rate of success. People with mild or moderate myopia are suitable for this process. Ortho-K is also used to to correct other errors depending on the situation. Ortho-K is also reversible, unlike LASIK.
